NYC

When you work in education, there is not greater joy than seeing your former students achieve great success.  Ten years ago Anna-Lee Craig graduated from HHS.  She had been on the forensics team, which is coached by my husband and myself and she also participated in my husband's spring play. The group of students who graduated that year were very special and we were close to a lot of them.  Through the wonder of social media, we were able to keep in touch with many of them.  Anna-Lee went to JMU and studied theatre and sound design and ended up working in NYC where she got a job as a sound tech on Hamilton: An American Musical. We marveled at her pictures online of the show and the celebrities she encountered backstage, taking great joy in her success. Recently, when she was in town for her reunion, I ran into her at a local restaurant. She and I hugged, a lot, and she invited my family and me to come visit her in NYC.  We made the trip a few weeks ago, taking the train out of Charlottesville and spending a whirlwind two days.  I wish we could have stayed longer, it was an amazing time.  These are the pictures from the trip, I wish I could have stayed longer...I want to photograph it all.
